Stumbling my way through Florence

I have been turned around (I don’t want to say lost) most every time I am trying to find a specific place. On Sunday I tried to find Santa Croce and I got within a block of it but never made it. I tried to find this particular shoe store but could never find the right street. It took me more than three times looking for the Duomo Museum before I found it (and yes it is right behind the Duomo). And I can never find the street back to the house. There have been times I knew I was going the right way only to realize I was the exact opposite of what I needed.

However there are few things I have seen every time I am lost. I have passed this watch store five or six times. I couldn’t find if I tried but if I am looking for something else then there I am checking out the watches again (it doesn’t matter what I am looking for the Duomo, Santa Croce, Ufizzi or whatever). Eventually I am going to have to buy one cause they are certainly calling out to me. There is also some big building that looks like it should be on my maps but isn’t. It seems like every road I am on leads me there but I can never find my way to anywhere from there. However today I discovered that the free wifi works really well from its steps so hopefully I will find my way back there again. It was a great spot to post my blog. Of course today I tried to go from there back to the house but went the wrong way and was late for cooking again.

I guess it really doesn’t matter where I stumble along to. There are gelatorias on most every corner so I can always stop for a treat.

I did find my way to the Ufizzi to pick up my museum pass. I signed up online to be a friend of the Ufizzi which gets me unlimited entrances to all the state run museums in Florence. It was just a little more than the GoFlorence pass which gets you into everything once. Not sure I will use it enough to cover the $100 cost but it beats standing in line for a ticket at ever place. The Ufizzi was super crowded by the time I got there and I only stayed to see the highlights. I think if I go right after class it will be better. At least I hope so.

Tomorrow I am heading to the Piti Palace and the Boboli Gardens. Hopefully I won’t get lost.
